The world's first-in-human telerobotic coronary intervention was conducted in Ahmedabad. The surgery was conducted by Dr Tejal Patel, the Chief Interventional Cardiologist at Apex Heart Institute in Ahmedabad.

Telerobotic Coronary Intervention is a robotic method of performing heart surgery with the help of the internet and a robotic tower. It is not based on the technique of artificial intelligence.

This platform has the potential to dramatically improve patient access for both elective and emergent percutaneous coronary interventions and stroke in rural and under-served populations.

It will reduce time to seek access for treatment and will also reduce variability in operator skills, improve clinical outcomes.
