The Wahabi Movement was essentially an Islamic revivalist movement founded by Syed Ahmed of Rai Bareilly who was inspired by the teachings of Abdul Wahab (1703-87) of Saudi Arabia and Shah Waliullah of Delhi. Syed Ahmed condemned the western influence on Islam and advocated a return to pure Islam and society as it was in the Arabia of the Prophet’s time.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmed founded the Ahmaddiya movement.

वहाबी आंदोलन मूल रूप से एक इस्लामिक पुनरुत्थानवादी आंदोलन था जिसकी स्थापना राय बरेली के सैयद अहमद ने की थी, जो सऊदी अरब के अब्दुल वहाब (1703-87) और दिल्ली के शाह वलीउल्लाह की शिक्षाओं से प्रेरित था। सैयद अहमद ने इस्लाम पर पश्चिमी प्रभाव की निंदा की और अरब में पैगंबर के समय वाले शुद्ध इस्लाम एवं समाज की तरफ वापसी की वकालत की।
