Consider the following statements related to provisions of the Government of India Act, 1935.
1. The provision of direct election was introduced.
2. The central government carried on upto 1946 as per the provision of Government of India Act. 1935.
3. Sindh was separated from Bombay.
4. Burma was completely separated from India.

Here only statements 1, 3 and 4 are correct. In second statement. The central government was carried on till 1946 as per Government of India Act 1919 and not 1935. Though there was provision for establishment of “federation of India” made up of British India apart from princely state.
Provision had two conditions:-
1. States with Allotment of 92 seats in the proposed council of states should agree to join federation and
2. Aggregate population of state in above category should be 50% of total population of all Indian states.
There Conditions were not fulfilled, proposed set – up never came up. The central government carried on upto 1946 as per the provision of Government of India Act, 1919.
Other features of Act were:
1. Introduction of direct election, thus increasing the franchise from seven million to thirty – five million people.
2. The grant of a large measure of autonomy to the province of British India (ended diarchy introduced by Gov. Act 1919)
3. Bihar and Orissa were split into separate provinces of Bihar and Orissa.
4. The establishment of a federal court.
