Tropical deciduous forests are the most widespread vegetation in India. They thrive over regions with rainfall ranging from 70 cm to 200 cm. Trees in these forests shed their leaves in dry season. Moist deciduous forests are one found in areas with rainfall ranging from 100 cm to 200 cm. They are found along eastern slopes of Western ghatsand slopes of Shiwalik. Dry deciduous forests are found in rainier parts of Indian peninsula. Teak, sal, bamboo, shisham, sandalwood, khair, kusum, etc are important trees found in these forests.
