As per the data given,

Since the length of the pitch is 18m

Step 2: Calculating the distance batsman travelled in one run

Hence, to make one run the distance he has to travel =18m

Now, the batsman makes one run and gets out when he is exactly midway through the pitch.

Therefore, he gets out when he is 182=9m away from the pitch.

Step 3: Calculating the total distance batsman travelled

Total distance travelled= distance travelled to make one run+ distance travelled is half of the pitch =18m+9m=27m

Hence option D is correct, the distance travelled by the batsman is 27m.
