Solution

(A) -Nucleophilic addition of CN at planar sp2 carbon gives cyanohydrin. in this reaction, a racemic mixture is obtained.
(B) The product of the reaction CH3COOC2H5C2H5ONaC2H5OH(i)NaBH4(ii)HO/H2O is a racemic mixture.
(C) Inversion of confuration occur in first step to give a single enantiomer of nitrile which of hydrolysis give a single enantiomer of acid. Hence, the product of the reaction is a single enantiomer.
(D) The reaction HOCCHONaCN(aq)H+/H2O produces three stereoisomers which includes a pair of diastereomers.
