When switch is closed then the current increases in the circuit.
As per the Lenz's law, when current increases, inverse current is induced in the loop so clockwise current will flow in the loop. After some time, when switch is opened then current is found to be reduced in the circuit. As per the Lenz’s law, current is induced in the loop such that it tends to maintain current. Its direction is anticlockwise.
