Coitus leads to the entry of sperms in the female reproductive system and fertilisation occurs if both sperm and ovum simultaneously reach the fallopian tube. The possibility of fertilisation is very high if the coitus happens in the mid of 28-day menstrual cycle (10-17th day) as this period is a fertile period and ovulation happens during these days.

Nursing mothers generally do not ovulate upto 6 months after delivery due to intense lactation. After 6 months, they start menstruating and ovulating.

Condoms are one of the barrier methods of contraception. Condoms are available for both males and females. Female condoms are also an effective way to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
