For mixture X: Chalk powder is insoluble in water. When the mixture is passed through filter paper, chalk powder gets collected on filter paper. While, water will pass through and can be collected in a container. Thus, the components can be seperated by filtration.
For mixture Y: In a mixture of wheat flour and husk, the components differ in size. So they can be separated by sieving. Husk particles being larger get collected on seive while flour passes through.
