Simplified Von Mises equation for general load scenario is given by
σv=12[(σ11σ22)2+(σ22σ33)2+(σ33σ211)+6(σ212+σ223+σ231)]

Case - I
σ11=0; σ22=σ; σ33=0; σ12=0 σ23=τ; σ31=0

σv=12(2σ2+6τ2)=σ2+3τ2

Case - II
σ11=0; σ22=σ; σ33=0; σ12=0 σ23=0; σ31=τ

σv=12(2σ2+6τ2)=σ2+3τ2

In both the cases, σv is same, so both yield simultaneously.
