Question

Construct a quadrilateral PQRS where PQ = 4 cm, QR = 6 cm, RS = 5 cm, PS = 5.5 cm, and PR = 7 cm.

Solution

Steps of construction:

1. Construct ΔPRS using SSS construction condition, where RS = 5 cm, PS = 5.5 cm and PR = 7 cm.
2. Now, we have to locate the fourth point Q. This ‘Q’would be on the side opposite to S with reference to PR.
3. With P as centre, draw an arc of radius length 4 cm. i.e, PQ = 4 cm.
4. With R as centre, draw an arc of radius 6 cm. i.e, QR = 6 cm.
5. The point of intersection of these two arcs is Q.
6. Join PQ and RQ to complete PQRS.
PQRS is the required quadrilateral.
