Question

Construct a right angle triangle whose perpendicular sides are 12 cm and 5 cm, using a ruler and a set square. Write its steps of construction. Also measure the length of the third side.

Steps of construction:
  1. Draw a line segment AB of 12 cm as the base of the triangle.
  2. Placing the right angle vertex of the set square at point A, draw a line segment of length 5 cm and name its end point as C.
  3. Join B and C to get the required right angled triangle.
We can now measure the side BC, which will measure out to 13 cm.
