We know that in square all sides are equal. Diagonals are also equal and perpendicularly bisect each other.

$\Rightarrow$ Draw a line segment $AC=9.8cm$

$\Rightarrow$ Draw a perpendicular bisector $XY$ meets $AC$ at point $O.$

$\Rightarrow$ Take $O$ as center with radius $4.9cm$ and cut off $OD$ and $OB$.

$\Rightarrow$ Join $AB,BC,CD$ and $AD$.

$\therefore$ $ABCD$ is required square.

Now measure the length of $AB$.

We get, $AB=6.9cm$

$\therefore$ Measure of sides is $6.9cm$
