Question

Construct a triangle ABC in which BC=8cm, B=45° and AB-AC=3.5cm.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Draw a line segment of base BC=8cm.

Measure and draw B=45° and extend the ray BX.

Step 2: Open a compass and measure AB-AC=3.5cm. Since AB-AC=3.5cm is positive,

BD will be above the line BC.

Considering B as a centre, draw an arc on the ray BX. Let the arc intersect BX at point D such that BX=3.5. Join DC.

Step 3: Now draw the perpendicular bisector of the line DC and the intersection point at the ray BX is assumed as A. Join AC.

Hence, ABC is the required triangle.
