Construct a triangle MNP in which MN = 4.5 cm, MP = 5.2 cm and length of perpendicular from M on NP is 3.8 cm.

Steps of construction:

Step I: Draw a line segment XY.

Step II: Take a point S on XY and draw SR XY.

Step III: With S as the centre and radius 3.8 cm (equal to the length of the altitude), draw an arc that cuts SR at M.

Step IV: Cut line segments MN = 4.5 cm and MP = 5.2 cm on XY.

Step V: Join MN and MP. ΔMNP is the required triangle.
