Question

Construct an Equation
The base angle of an isosceles triangle is 'b' . The vertex angle is three times the base angle

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
Solution:

Let us assume that the base angle of the isosceles triangle be ao, then the vertex angle will be 3ao.

As we know that the sum of three angles of a triangle equal to 180o.

a + a + 3a = 180

5a = 180

a = 180/5 = 36o.

Since the base angles are equal, then the base angles are 36o each, the vertex angle will be 3 x 36o =108 o.

Ans: Base angles: 36o each Vertex angle: 108o.
