Construct $\overline{PQ}$ of length $8.2$ cm. From this cut off $\overline{PR}$ of length $5.4$ cm. Measure $RQ$.

Steps of construction:

Step-1 Draw a line $l$ and mark a point $p$ on it.

Step-2 Place the sharp point of the compass at point $p$ and open the compass in such a way that it represents length $=8.2$ $cm$

Step-3 With same radius, draw an arc to cut line $l$ at $Q$.

Step-4 Again with $p$ as a centre , adjust the compass in such a way that length $=4.7cm$ draw an arc to cut off the line at $R$.

Step-5 Now, place the 0 mark of the ruler at $R$ and read the position of point $Q$ which is equal to $3.5cm$.

Thus,$RQ$ is equal to $3.5cm$.
