Question

Construct the circumcircle and incircle of an equilateral Δ XYZ with side 6.5cm and centre O. Find the ratio of the radii of incircle and circumcircle.

Open in App
Solution

Circumcenter can be found using the perpendicular bisectors, and incenter using angle bisectors.

Now taking R as circumradius and r as inradius, we can draw the circumcircle and incircle.

In triangle OXZ , XOZ=1200 and OXZ=OZX=300

Measuring r and R using ruler, we can get rR=12

Alternate Method:
In triangle OXZ , XOZ=1200 and OXZ=OZX=300
Therefore by sine rule we get R=6.5×sin300sin1200=6.53

By sine rule, we get rsin300=Rsin900
r=Rsin300=R2
rR=12
