Question

Contact and non contact forces in nature?

Open in App
Solution

  • If the two interacting bodies are in direct physical contact with each other, then the foce is called contact force.

For example: Frictional force, air reistence force, muscular force, etc.

In frictional force two surfaces are in direct contact. This foce cannot work if two bodies are kept apart from each other. Similarly muscular force means the foce that we and other animals apply are also contact foces.I can't push you sitting on my chair.I have to go to you, use my hand or legs or any other body part and then I can push you.I hope that you might have understood contact forces.

  • If the two interacting bodies are not in direct physical contact with each other, then the foce is called non-contact forces.

For example: Gravitational force, magnetic force, electrostaticsuclear force, nuclear force, etc.

In the force like gravitational and magnetic force objects are attracted without any direct contact with the magnet or the earth
