The contamination of Ganga has adverse effects on livelihood because:
1) It is the biggest source of drinking water in India and contamination makes it unfit for this purpose.
2) Large number of aquatic life is dying due to contamination.
3) The soil becomes acidic and thus affects agriculture.
4) The impurity in water leads to production of harmful microbes.
