Conversion of fractions into decimals when the denominator is not a multiple of 10

  • for converting a fraction whose denominator is not a multiple of 10 , first convert the given fraction into an equivalent fraction with denominator as a multiple of 10 .
  • Then , convert the equivalent fraction into the decimal by placing the decimal point starting from the extreme right before as many digits as the number of zeros after 1 in the denominator.

The conversion of the fraction into equivalent fraction is : 68=6×1258×125=7501000 .

Now , the decimal representation of the equivalent fraction is : 7501000=0.750.

Thus , the decimal representation of the given fraction is 0.750 .
