Corrosion is known as the process of degradation of a metal caused by an electrochemical process.
It is mostly defined as the natural process that makes the transformation of pure metals into undesirable substances while they undergo a reaction with substances like water or air.
This reaction results in damage and disintegration of the metal from the portion of the metal that is exposed to the environment and spreads to the entire metal.
Prevention of metals from corrosion:
Applying a paint coating which is a cost-effective way to prevent corrosion can prevent the metal surface from atmospheric moisture hence, the corrosion can be prevented.
As the corrosion process is caused by the electrochemical reaction between the metal and gases in the surroundings, hence by taking necessary steps to control the surrounding environment, the reactions can be minimized.
The coating of the metal surface with another metal gets oxidized first before the metal hence for avoiding its corrosion cathodic protection or anodic protection can be used.
Hence, corrosion of metals can be prevented by the above-mentioned ways.
