Question

Copper can displace __________ from its salt solution. ( zinc/silver/iron)

Open in App
Solution

Chemical displacement reaction

The highly reactive metals displace the less reactive metals from their compounds and these reactions are called chemical displacement reactions.

The order of reactivity of the metals can be understood from the metal reactivity series and it is shown below:

Potassium > Sodium > Calcium >Magnesium > Aluminum > Zinc > Iron > Tin > Lead >[H] > Copper > Mercury > Silver > Gold > Platinum.

Thus, from this series, it is clear that Copper is more reactive than Silver. So, Copper can displace Silver from its salt solution.

Hence, Copper displaces Silver from its salt solution.
