Solution

Reasons for using copper in electrical appliances

  • Copper functions as a good conductor of electricity and heat because of the availability of free electrons in their valence shells.
  • These electrons are loosely bound to the atom and can conduct ions and energy.
  • It can also resist heat.
  • Copper is highly ductile. Ductility is one of the physical properties of metals by which they can be stretched into thin wires and Copper is an example of a ductile material.
