Since, CuCu2O line at the top of Ellingham diagram, it is easy to reduce oxide ores of copper directly to the metal by heating it with coke.
Actually the ore is heated in a reverberatory furnace after
mixing with silica to remove iron impuritieas as slag.

Copper is obtained as copper matte which mainly consists of Cu2S and some unchanged FeS.
