The correct option is D FSH, oestrogen, progesterone
The menstrual cycle four phases :
i) Menstrual phase : Menstruation is the elimination of the thick lining of the uterus (endometrium) from the body through the vagina.
ii) Follicular phase : In the follicular phase, the hypothalamus secretes gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) which stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete both follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). During this phase, the primary follicles in the ovary grow to become a fully mature Graafian follicle and simultaneously the endometrium of uterus regenerates through proliferation. In this phase growing follicles secretes estrogen.
iii) Ovulatory phase : In this phase, the level of LH secretion increases which results in the rupture of graafian follicle, the release of ovum takes place.
iv) Luteal phase : In this phase, the remaining parts of the Graafian follicle transform as the corpus luteum, secretes large amounts of progesterone which is essential for maintenance of the endometrium.
Therefore, the correct hormonal sequence in the case of menstruation is FSH, oestrogen, progesterone.
