The reproductive cycle in female primates like cow dog etc is called oestrus cycle while the reproductive cycle in non primates like humans and apes is called menstrual cycle. These animals have difference in these cycles, so they are named differently.
Oestrus cycle in primates occurs in particular season only as they are seasonal breeders. The endometrium formed is reabsorbed back if fertilisation does not occur and blood does not flow out.
While menstrual cycle occurs per month in any season as non primates are continuous breeders. The endometrium is passed out if fertilisation does not take place and bleeding occurs as the end of menstrual cycle.
