CP: Given position time graph of a particles motion along x-axis
Q: At what time t is the particle moving towards the starting point?
At ta, and tc the particles displacement is increasing with time.
Also the slope at ta, and tc, is positive which implies its velocity is positive. If velocity is positive the particle is going away from the starting point.
At t = td the slope of graph is 0. So velocity is 0. Hence the particle is momentarily at rest.
Att=te the slope of the particle is negative.
slope =tanθ ∵ θ is obtuse
so tan θ =negative
so velocity is negative
Hence the particle is coming back to origin
