Solution

According to Brewster's law when unpolarised light is incident at polarizing angle(ip) on an interface separating a rarer medium from a denser medium, of refractive index μ, such that
μ=tanip
then light is reflected in the rarer medium is completely polarized.
Also, we know critical angle (ic) is given as
μ=1sinic
sinic=1μ
ic=sin1(1μ)
According to the question
ic=sin1(35)
sin1(1μ)
=sin1(35)
μ=53
Thus, finding polarizing angle
μ=tanip
ip=tan1(53).
