Question

Crosses represent uniform magnetic field directed into the paper. A conductor XY moves in the field towards right side. Find the direction of induced current in the conductor. Name the rule you applied. What will be the direction of current if the direction of field and the direction of motion of the conductor both are reversed?

Solution

Velocity V is rightward and field B is into the paper so V×B will be upward so electron being negatively charged will shift downward so current can be thought of inupward direction. As force F=qV×B for electron q=e

if direction of field and velocity both are reversed the direction of induced current will remain same as V×B=V×B
