Solution

The correct option is B Diploid
A diploid organism contains a pair of similar chromosomes called the homologous chromosomes, i.e., traits are represented in pairs along the same loci of the homologous chromosomes and each chromosome has multiple traits represented by genes that form the linkage group.

During the prophase I of meiosis I, exchange of genetic material take place between two non sister’s chromatids of a homologous pair that changes the composition of the linkage group known as recombination of the linked alleles.

Exchange of chromatid segments between the non sister chromatids of a bivalent is called crossing over. It occurs during pachytene of prophase-I. It is responsible for recombination of linked genes.

Hence, crossing over and linkage can be best studied in diploid organisms.
