The correct option is A cotton bollworms and corn borer, respectively
Bt toxin is encoded by a gene named cry. This gene has been isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis. The Bt toxin targets the insects and their larva. On feeding on plant parts (containing Bt toxin due to artificially introduction of cry gene by rDNA technology), the inactive toxins get activated in the alkaline pH of guts of the insects. The active toxins bind to the surface of midgut epithelial cells creating pores. Subsequently, the insects die due to cell swelling and lysis.
The toxins are of many forms, usually insect-group specific. Example, the proteins encoded by the genes cry I Ac and cry II Ab control the cotton bollworms while that encoded by cry I Ab controls corn borer, etc.
