Solution

The correct option is B +0.38V
From given data (from ΔGo=nEoF)
(i)Cu(s)Cu2+(aq)+2e. ΔGo1=2×(0.34)×F
(ii)Cu2+(aq)+eCu+(aq). ΔGo2=1×(0.15)F
On adition
Cu(s)Cu+(aq)+e. ΔGo3=1×Eo×E
ΔGo3=ΔGo1+ΔGo2
=(2×0.34×F)+(1×0.15×F)
=+0.68F0.15F0.53F
or Eo=0.53V
Reaction,
2Cu+(aq)Cu2+(aq)+Cu(s)Eo=?
So, Cu+(aq)+eCu(s), Eo=+0.53V
Cu+(aq)Cu2+(aq)+e; Eo=0.15V
3Cu+(aq)Cu2+(aq)+Cu(s), Eo=+0.38V
