  1. Cuticle is a waxy layer that is formed above the epidermis of the stem and leaves.
  2. This layer checks the loss of water from the plants.
  3. If a waxy cuticle is present on roots, it prevents absorption of water and salts from the soil, hence cuticle is absent in the roots.
