The present age of the father is 42 years and that of his son is 14 years. Find the ratio of:

Age of father to the age of son when father was 30 years old.

Answer 1

When father was 30 years old i.e. 42 - 30 = 12 years ago,

then the age of son was 14-12 = 2 years.

Therefore, the ratio of their ages when father was 30 years old

= $\frac{30}{2}=\frac{15}{1}=15:1$ [Dividing numerator and denominator by HCF of 30 and 2 i.e. 15]
