Danny had his palm impression on a grid sheet and it covers 12 complete grids, 5 more than half grids and 3 less than half grids. If each grid occupies 1 cm2 then what is the space occupied by his palm?

Given,
Space occupied by each grid = 1 cm2
Number of complete grids occupied = 12
Number of more than half grids occupied = 5
And, number of less than half grids occupied = 3

So, space occupied by his hand is:
Area = 12 × 1 + 5 × 1 + 3 × 0 = 17 cm2
