An almirah is sold at rs. 5225 after allowing a discount of 5%. Find it's marked price.

Solution:

According to the information given,

x>5225

5225= 5% of x

5225= 0.95 x

x= 5500

I didn't understand the bolded step.

Please explain clearly.

Seller has given a discount of 5% so only 95% (100%-5%)of marketed price is paid for the product.
(marketed price=selling price+discount)
so the price 5225 is 95% of marketed price
so if marketed price is x

5225= 95% of x
5225 =*95/100)*x

5225= 0.95 x
5225/.95 = x

x= 5500
