Can you please clear my concept on CONTRACEPTIVE METHODS in the reproduction chapter??

Contraception is defined as the prevention of pregnancy in females by preventing fertilisation. The barrier method, chemical method and surgical method are some of the methods of contraception.

The surgical method of birth control for men is called vasectomy, in which a small portion of the vas deferens is cut and their ends are sealed to prevent sperms from coming out.


1. BARRIER METHOD - by using plastic devices such as condoms , cervical caps ete.
2.CHEMICAL METHOD - drugs used by females to change the hormonal balance.eg: oral pills etc
3.Surgical method- Vasectomy in males where sperm ducts are cut and ligated which prevents the transfer of sperms to urethra.
Tubectomy in females where oviducts are cut and ligated which prevents the sperms from reaching egg or ovum.
4)IUCD/Copper T /Loop.
5)calendar method
