The process of photosynthesis is performed by the plants to prepare the food. For the process of photosynthesis, the nutrients are absorbed from the soil, the carbon dioxide is fixed from the atmosphere and the light is obtained from the sun. When the plant dies, the microbes in the soil decompose the plants to release the nutrients back into the soil. The carbon dioxide gets recycled by this process and enters the reservoir pool. Thus, decomposition is also important during the process of photosynthesis.
