Solution

The correct option is C

Make it stable

The explanation for the correct options:

B: Increases friction

  1. Deep grooves of the tyres of a tractor hold the loose soil and increase the area of contact of the tyre with the soil.
  2. Due to the increase in the area of contact, the frictional force between the tyre and the soil increases.
  3. In presence of moisture, the grooves provide a passage for movement of moisture which ensures minimum interaction of moisture with the tyre surface.
  4. Due to the minimum interaction of the tyres with the moisture, friction is increased and slipping of the tyres is prevented.

C: Make it stable

  1. In the case of very loose soil, the deep grooves of the tyre hold the soil between the grooves which provides stability to the tractor.
  2. In muddy soil, the grooves of the tyre help in the passage of water through them and hence increases the stability of the tractor.

Hence, options (B) and (C) are correct.
