Question

define 1)di electric strength
2)linear isotropic dielectric

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student ,
Dielectric strength can be defined as the maximum voltage that can be applied to a given material without causing it to break down, usually expressed in volts or kilovolts per unit of thickness. In a linear dielectric the macroscopic dipolar moment per unit volume ( magnitude of vector P) has a linear dependence on the electric field E isotropic means uniformity in all direction .So in isotropic dielectric polarization always has a direction that is parallel to the applied electric field .
