Define a colloidal solution

Solution
A colloidal solution is a heterogeneous mixture in which a definite substance is distributed in the form of very small particles as a dispersed phase in another substance called the dispersion medium.
The size of colloidal particles is in the range of 1 nm - 1000 nm which we can not see through our naked eye.
Depending upon the states of the dispersed phase and dispersion medium colloids are different
Examples of types of colloids - Emulsion, Sol
Emulsion: Dispersed phase and dispersion medium is in the liquid state (milk is an example)
Sol: Dispersed phase is solid and the dispersion medium is liquid (paint is an example)
