Fuel

Any substance that upon combustion produces a usable amount of energy is known as fuel.

Solid Fuel

  1. Fuels that are found in their solid state at room temperature are generally referred to as solid fuels.
  2. Examples of solid fuels are wood and coal.

Liquid Fuel

  1. Most liquid fuels are derived from the fossilized remains of dead plants and animals by exposure to heat and pressure in the Earth’s crust.
  2. Examples of liquid fuels are kerosene and petrol.

Gaseous Fuel

  1. Gaseous fuels occur in nature, besides being manufactured from solid and liquid fuels.
  2. Examples of gaseous fuels are CNG and LPG.
