Step 1: Define the median

The definition of a median is the line segment from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side.

Let ABC be a triangle as shown in the following figure

Here, AD is the median of a triangle ABC which comes from the vertex A to the midpoint of BC

Step 2: Find the number of medians can a triangle have

In a triangle, ABC we can draw three medians from the three vertices A,BandCto the opposite sides BC,ACandABrespectively

The three medians are AD,BEandCF

Hence, triangle can have only three medians.
