Molecules- Molecules are made up of groups of atoms having independent existence.

  • Helium(He) gas is an example of a mono-atomic molecule i.e., it has one atom in its molecule and has free existence.
  • Hydrogen(H2) gas is an example of a diatomic molecule, it has two atoms in one molecule.
  • Water(H2O) is an example of a triatomic molecule having two hydrogens and one oxygen atom.
  • Some molecules have a large number of atoms, as in the case of sulfur.
  • A sulfur molecule is made up of 8 sulfur atoms in a ring form.
