The rain containing excess of acids is called acid rain. Gaseous pollutants like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide combine with the water vapour to form carbonic acid, sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively.

It causes respiratory issues and skin problems in animals and humans.
