Acute diseases:

  1. These are diseases that occur suddenly without any developmental phase and have a massive impact on the health of an individual.
  2. They are mainly caused due to an external agent of pathogenicity.
  3. They subside once the infection has died down after the administration of appropriate medication.
  4. They do not last longer than a few weeks.

Examples: an asthma attack, chickenpox, common cold, dysentery.
