Define an irrational number. How does it differ from a rational number?
A number, which cannot be expressed in the form: ; p, q being integers is called an irrational number. The number, which can neither be expressed as a terminating decimal nor a repeating, is called an irrational number.
We can represent rational numbers in the form of the ratio of two integers(positive or negative), where the denominator is not equal to 0. But we cannot express irrational numbers in the same form.
