Define anaerobic respiration.
Anaerobic respiration :
a) Ethyl alcohol fermentation :
In bacteria and fungi such as yeast, anaerobic respiration has taken place which results in the formation of ethyl alcohol, carbon dioxide, and two molecules of ATP.
b) Lactic acid fermentation :
In muscle cells of humans, the anaerobic respiration results in the formation of lactic acid and two molecules of ATP.
