Open in App
Solution

  • Deliquescence is a phenomenon in which a substance that absorbs moisture gradually from the air and becomes a liquid solution is called deliquescent.
  • Deliquescence occurs when the vapor pressure of the solution that is formed is less than the partial pressure of water vapor in the air.
  • All soluble salts will deliquesce (becoming liquid by absorbing moisture from the air) if the air is sufficiently humid.

For example- Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), calcium chloride (CaCl2)
